Humba

Humba recipe (Braised Pork Belly) is one of popular day ta day Filipino pork recipes. While pork humba is originally a Visayan food, it has a big similarity with other Filipino recipes known as Paksiw na Pata and adobo. While humba recipe is easy to prepare it has a unique tasty flavor that makes it so popular. Filipinos has a lot of ways preparing this Filipino food and here is my method for preparation.

Ingredient For Humba :

1 kg Liempo (Pork belly meat)
2 pack banana blossom
2 cups of water
1 cup Del Monte Pineapple juice or Dole
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 tbsp peppercorn
brown sugar
Vetsin (monosodiumglutamate)
1-2 tbsp Tausi (tahure), fermented blackbeans
2-3 tbsp minced garlic
2 pcs Potato, peeled and quartered
Hard boiled egg

Procedure For Cooking Humba Recipe

Cut liempo pork in cubes, wash and bring to boil in casserole from water, pineapple juice, peppercorn, soy sauce until the meat tenderize. Remove meat from the broth and set aside stocks. In a separate pan, saute garlic, onion, and tausi, simmer for few minute. Add 1 laddle of broth and ground black beans using laddle, simmer for few minute. Add tenderized pork, potato and simmer for few minute. Add pork stock, hard boiled egg and bring to boil until potato tenderize, add sugar according to taste, season with vetsin. Served newly cook Humba with hard boiled egg per serving along with hot steamy rice. Enjoy
