Breaded Tilapia Recipe With Sweet and Sour Sauce

Tilapia is farmed fresh water fish, usually find in Taal lake and bred by  aqua culturist in different part of the country. Tilapiang Batangas is the most popular among the variation of Tilapia offered in the market, it is usually black in color and much bigger compare with other. It is usually use for sinigang, pangat, paksiw or fried. Aside from those filipino recipe that we use to do, here is a recipe that you will surely like, Breaded Tilapia Recipe with sweet and sour sauce.


Ingredient for Breaded Tilapia Recipe

1 kg of tilapia, remove scale and wash (fillet)
Bread crumbs
1 tbsp rock salt
1/4 tsp ground peppercorn
Canola oil
2-3 beaten egg

Procedure for Cooking Breaded Tilapia

Dip fish on beaten egg, mix all of the ingredient them cover fish with the mixture. Fry quickly in high and set aside.

Ingredient for Sweet and Sour Sauce

1/4 cup of vineger
1/2 cup of water
1/4 cup of soy sauce
1/2 cup of catsup
1/2 cup of water with cornstarch for thickening
2-3 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp minced garlic
1/2 onion, slice
2-3 thumb size ginger, cut into strips
1 red bell pepper, quartered
1 pc carrots, cut into strips

Procedure for Cooking Sweet and Sour Sauce:

In pan, sautee garlic, onion, carrots, and ginger in a tsp canola oil. Add water, vinegar, soy sauce and sugar. Bring to boil and simmer for a minute, add red bell pepper and cook for another minute. Taste and vetsin, add salt, sugar, vinegar according to your taste and simmer for 1-2 minute. Pour slurry to thickened sauce. Put fried breaded tilapia on a platter and cover with sweet and sour sauce. Served breaded tilapia recipe while it is hot with fried rice, enjoy.
