Sweet and Sour Pork Recipe

Sweet and sour pork recipe is a well known chinese recipe here in the Phillipines. It is a common recipe in their menu book but while this dishes is trully a chinese in origin it trully captivates the heart of ordinary filipino. It only proves how the chinese has influenced our daily lives and culture, anyway there is no harm for borrowing some of their culinary recipes. Anyway if you like to try my version of sweet and sour pork recipe here's how i cook it.

Ingredient :

  • 1 kg sirloin, cut squarely and 1/2 inch thick
  • 5 tbsp cornsrach
  • Soysauce
  • Cooking oil
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 tbsp worceshire sauce
  • Pineapple tidbits
  • Onion, slice
  • Redbell pepper, julienne
  • 1/2 cup banana catsup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Tomato, wash and sliced
Sweet and Sour Recipe Procedure of Cooking

In a pot, boiled pork from 3 cups of water with salt until it tender. Drain the pork meat set aside, keep the meat stock to use later. Cover the pork with the mixture of 4 tbsp of cornstarch and 2 tsp soysauce. Fry the pork in a pan until it turns to golden brown. In a mixing bowl, mix 4 tbsp of cornstarch with 1/2 cup of water, set aside. In a separate pot, onion , redbell pepper, worceshire sauce, pineapple tidbits with syrup. Cover and simmer for 3-5 minute. Add catsup,2 cups of pork stock, vetsin, and dissolve cornstarch to thickned. And lastly add fried pork.

Served sweet and sour recipe in a plate with a tomato at the top with hot steamy rice.

Thanks for the recipe. I cooked sweet and sour pork today though I don't have pineapple chunks or syrup. I improvised by using a lemon and honey. :)Also instead of bellpeppers, I had sliced baguio beans and 1 malalaking siling amerikano.
