Corn Soup (Suam)- Filipino Soup Recipe

Suam or corn soup is a well known household filipino soup recipe. I always prepare corn soup (swam) as a side dish with my pritong isda. This recipe is really nutritious as the main ingredient of this recipe is corn which is high on protein. Here is the ingredient for this popular filipino corn soup recipes, Suam.


  • 2-3 teaspoon Vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 pc medium size onion, chop
  • 150g  ground pork
  • ¼ cup chopped shrimp
  • 6 cob of  fresh white corn, grated 
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 pork cubes
  • salt to taste
  • Patis or Fish sauce
  • 1 cup talbos ng sili

Here's how I prepare these delicious and nutricious Filipino soup recipe - Corn Soup

  • Heat pan with oil, sautee garlic and onion
  • Add ground pork then fish sauce, cover and  simmer until it change its color and start to render oil
  • Add shrimp while constantly mixing the pork to avoid sticking from the pan
  • Add water and pork cubes to boil.
  • Add grated whitecorn, cover and simmer while mixing
  • Pour water and pork cubes, boil and salt to taste.
  • Turn off the stove when the corn is tender, and lastly add talbos ng sili
Served corn soup while it is hot. Best with steam rice with fried fish.
