Puso ng saging (literally translated as banana heart) or banana bud is a popular filipino food ingredient for some filipino recipe, it is usually use as one of the main ingredient for kare kare (a popular beef stew in the Philippines). Ginataang Puso ng Saging Recipe Ingredient:
1 whole puso ng saging ( Remove first 2 layer outer skin), sliced
2 cup coconut milk (gata ng niyog)
1 cup coconut cream (kakang gata)
2-3 tbsp minced garlic
2-3 tbsp cooking
1-2 tbsp vinegar
1 whole onion, sliced
2 thumb size garlic, skinned and slices
250 grams liempo
3 level tbsp bagoong (shrimp paste)
2-3 pcs, slice red hot chilli (siling labuyo)
Ginataang Puso ng Saging Recipe Procedure of Cooking
In a pot, bring to boil liempo in a cup of water until it secretes its own oil, add cooking oil and sautee garlic, onion, and ginger. Add bagoong and simmer for 2-3 minute, then add vinega, coconut milk, puso ng saging. Bring to boil the mixture, when coconut milk almost dries pour in coconut cream, add salt to taste, red hot chillie, ground pepper and bring to oil and simmer until sauce almost dries and thickens.
