Method of Saving Vitamins in Food Preparartion

Here is some advice on how to save nutrients when preparing food;


  • Wash vegetable and fruit before peeling to avoid washing out vitamins and minerals underneath the skin.
  • Recyle vitamins and minerals from rice washing by using it as broth cooking sinigang or nilaga.
  • Do not rub rice while washing to maintain vitamin and mineral.
  • Do not over cooked vegetable, prolonged cooking can cuse loss of nutrients
  • Serve fruit as they are ready, delay of serving increases enzyme loss which are beneficial for our healthy being.

I never realized that cleaning the rice would lose some minerals and vitamins. Thanks for the advice.
