Salted Egg (Itlog na Maalat) Recipe

Red salted egg or Itlog na maalat is a popular delicacy in the Philippines, it is usually served to compliments fried fish meal. It is also use as an ingredient for siopao filling, filling for Filipino bread (Pandesal). Red salted egg are consider as a day to day food for every Filipino not only for the reason of affordability and also availability. For an average Filipino, a pc of red salted egg with tomato and onion is enough for a meal. Any way here is one of my recipe that includes itlog na maalat as an ingredient, it is so affordable and easy to prepare.

Ingredient for Salted Egg Salad:

3 pcs Itlog na pula, deshell
3-4 tbsp vinegar
2-3 ripe tomato, cut
1-2 onion, slice
1 thumbsize garlic, julienne
1 bundle Talbos ng kamote , wash
Pinch of ground peppercorn


Procedure For Preparation:

In a casserole, bring to boil 3 cups of water and blanch talbos ng kamote for 15-30 seconds. In a mixing, mix itlog na pula with vinegar and crush egg using tablespoon, add onion, tomato, ginger, ground peppercorn, add blanch vegetable and mix thoroughly. salted egg salad recipe is best served with fried fish, enjoy.
